The secluded area of Lower Glasdrum development will be made up of a total of 5 houses.

1 pair of 2 bedroom semi-detached houses.

The houses will be built to the latest energy efficiency standards and will be complete with solar panels.
All main services will be connected to the houses.

It is anticipated that the 2 bedroom houses will be started late in July 2008.



  1. Glasdrum Development is situated close to the town of Fort William but enjoys the advantage of being an elevated and fairly secluded site. All houses have excellent views of the surrounding countryside and loch. The houses are built to a high specification and come with an N.H.B.C. certificate. Many styles and size of house are available and are complete with fitted kitchen, bathroom, shower room, electric heating (or other as specified), inside and outside decoration, paths and parking. The houses are built to individual requirements and in the £160,000.00 price range.

  2. The town of Fort William is situated at the foot of Ben Nevis and is 55 miles from Oban and 66 miles from Inverness. The ideal situation of Fort William makes it perfect for all kinds of leisure activity including walking, sailing and climbing as well as being ideally situated for access to 3 major ski resorts. The High Street has been pedestrians but there is ample parking within close proximity to the town centre. The town has two well-stocked supermarkets as well as other specialized shops including tourist orientated woolen shops. All commodities are readily available within the town. In summer there is a free bus service from the large car parks at either end of the High Street with drop off points at various places adjacent to the High Street. There are also baker's shops, delicatessen, clothing and shoe stores and a range of other shops.

3. Glasdrum development is ideally situated for schools, playgroups and Nursery schools. Within a very short walk there are 2 playgroups for 2-3 year old children. Also available for children is a dedicated nursery school in Caol, which is 15 minutes by car or bus although there are Nursery classes in 2 of the 3 Primary schools as well as a Gaelic Nursery. The 3 Primary schools are a short walk from Glasdrum but easily managed by children of all ages. The High school that serves the community is on the outskirts of town on the Mallaig road but has a good service of buses that transport children to and from school. There are three primary schools including the Fort William R.C. Primary. There is a bus service from town to the Secondary school situated on the outskirts of town. For younger children there are playgroups and Nursery facilities within 5-10 minutes walk of the development. There is a College of further education with walking distance of the town centre.

  4. Close to the town centre is the Belford Hospital. The hospital is modern with a good accident and emergency unit. Within the hospital there are surgical, medical and maternity units. For more serious incidents the hospital is backed up by Raigmore hospital in Inverness. Consultants from there visit on a regular basis saving the patients the journey north. As well as the surgeons who are on duty local G.P's also have an out of hours surgery during the weekend and evening.

5. The community has many business and industries in the surrounding area. There are a number of small specialist businesses, which reflect the area. The main employers are British Alcan, Marine Harvest, Wiggins Teape and Nevis Print. There is a lot of seasonal work in the numerous hotels and restaurants as well as Anoch Mhor the local skiing centre.

6. Fort William is well serviced with all major Scottish banks having a presence in the High Street. There are three Doctors surgeries, which deal with patients in the town and surrounding areas. The G.Ps also do some work in the Belford Hospital where they also have an out of hours surgery. The two dental practices are also sited in the High Street and take both NHS and private patients. The town has several Solicitors offices, which also act as Estate agents. There is a very good bus service to all areas of Fort William as well as to Oban, Inverness, Glasgow and Edinburgh. There is a daily train service to Glasgow, which connects to all major cities in the British Isles. A sleeper service is also available. Airports at Inverness and Glasgow fly to U.K. and overseas destinations.

7. All items of local news can be found in the two weekly newspapers, the "Lochaber News" and the "Oban Times". Other sources of local news and information can be gained from "Nevis Radio". There is a local Tourist Information office in the centre of the town.

  8. Fort William is ideally suited for recreational activities. There is an indoor 25-metre swimming pool complete with a gymnasium, climbing wall and sauna complex. There is the indoor facility, Nevis Centre, for shows, pool and 10-pin bowling. Pony trekking is available with rides in the Great Glen just to the North of the town. Walking is unrivalled with short sign posted walks through to long distance walks in all directions and to some of the remotest parts of the Highlands. The internationally known "West Highland Way" finishes at Fort William. The most popular walk is from Glen Nevis up the winding path to the summit of the highest mountain in the British Isles. BEN NEVIS. The West Highland Railway runs through spectacular countryside and allows access to remote parts for the adventure walk. The Steam Train runs to Mallaig during the summer months.

9. In May of each year the Scottish 6 Day Trials and in September the Ben Nevis Race is held and competitors arrive from all over Europe to compete. The town has a playing ground where Shinty matches are regularly held with the trophy "The Camanach Cup" for the best club in the league. Lochaber Yacht Club has regular dinghy and keelboat racing. The club is open to all ages and has a very successful training program ranging from first aid, sailing, and power boating to VHF radio operator's licenses. Clay pigeon shooting and for those with wider interest Pheasant shooting and Deer stalking is  readily available. Trout and salmon fishing is available on various lochs and rivers in the surrounding areas. Sea fishing, which is an enjoyable pastime, is easily accessible from both land and boat. With short boat trips it is possible to view seals dolphins and basking sharks. There is an active scuba diving club, which offers the opportunity to dive in the very clear waters of the West Coast of Scotland. There is the ski area of Anoch Mhor complete with gondola, ski lifts and tows and of course the mountainside restaurant with its panoramic views. The Nevis Centre is an indoor facility for shows, pool and 10-pin bowling as well as a play area for young children. For children there are a number of clubs for example football, basketball, athletics and gymnastics to name but a few.

10. Eating out in Fort William and surrounding area is very good, exciting and challenging. You can  have coffee and light snacks in the town during the day and dine in a top class restaurant at night. For the extra special meal there is the world famous "Inverlochy Castle Hotel".
